ICCHP is one of the most important conferences concerning technology and disability. The papers is published in Proceedings by Springer Verlag.
One of the papers with the title “RHYME – Musicking for all” is written by Harald Holone and Jo Herstad. The paper discusses familiarity in Tangible Interaction design related to Universal Design.  The title on the other paper is “Musicking Tangibles for empowerment” and is written by Birgitta Cappelen and Anders-Petter Andersson. The paper presents a novel approach towards understanding and design of interactive music technology for people with special needs, what they call Musicking Tangibles. The approach combine  perspectives from culture oriented Tangible interaction design with empowerment and resource oriented Music Therapy, and criticizes and broaden the traditional instrument and interface oriented perspective on music technology. The theme of the conference is “Music therapy models, methods and techniques “. Karette’s lecture about the RHYME project was named “Musical furniture? Health and therapy potentials playing on and with smart things”.  Further, Birgitta Cappelen and Anders-Petter Andersson arranged a workshop during the conference with the title “Design of Musicking Interactive Things”.

The conference was held in Jyväskylä in Finland from 13 to 17 of June in 2012.

Karette Stensæth who is a part time music therapist at Haug will lead the orientation in the “Gymsal” that lasts from 17.15  to 18.45.  Everyone will also have the opportunity to try out the co-creative tangibles ORFI and Wave.
