Polly Fire

Polly Fire is a  sleeping-bag-shaped mobile wireless Co-creative Tangible. Polly Fire has a RFID-reader (the white velvet triangle at one end) for selecting and playing music in several ways. By choosing a RFID tagged Scene-card (looking like a CD cover) the user can select the music and accompanying visuals he likes to listen to and play. By interacting with the Tag- Things the user can play the chosen music as if it was an orchestra with different musicians. More about making music and sensorial experiences in the Polly World here.

Polly Fire has two Bend-sensors, five Touch-sensors and one Movement-sensor (accelerometer) to change and create the music further.  Polly Fire has one Microphone that you can sing into. Polly Fire then adds effects to your voice in real time and you can change it further by moving and thereby activating the Movement-sensor. Polly Fire also records your voice so you can play with it in a musical manner by interacting with the Bend-sensors.

Technical Drawing Polly Fire

Polly Fire like all the Polly Tangibles has a unique sound system and speakers to provide high quality sound. Polly Fire has 6 large (40*40 cm) textile fields with embedded LED lights to give the user a music and tangible light experience. It also has 4 sensorial stimulating surfaces, which are not computer related, to lower the threshold for positive sensorial and music making experience further.

Polly Fire has both USB and Inductive battery charging, since it is wireless and like a mobile phone has to be charged now and then. The USB is the fastest charging method, but requires plugging in a cable like you do with your mobile phone.
Polly Fire also has a separate on/off-functionality, so it can run stand-alone or together in the Polly World. The user can control and create music with Polly Fire when away from home by interacting with the Polly Compose APP over the Internet.
